Loving all the ideas and info guys, not too fussed for a sv conversion though, if the vtr is too big a challenge I quite like the yam 660 idea but maybe use something a bit more modern? Oh and if I could fund a rsv4 motor conversion I would buy an rsv4!!!! Like your thinking though sir it would be a monster!!
Think I have found a vtr lump not to buy but to measure so fingers crossed I should be closed to knowing how possible this idea is. Will keep you posted, keep the ideas and info coming guys it really is helping I particularly need potential problems highlighting, I'm a bit too optimistic and need grounding from time to time! I think your main problem if you do ever get it mounted in the frame is weight and distribution, The NC30 frame is over engineered but to a point where it will handle a thumping 1000cc twin i dont know. Then theres handling, no point having all that power if you cant put it down. Take a look at a SP1 frame, thats what honda deemed safe to house a 1000cc twin and handle well.
Im not saying its not possible id love to see you do it but i fear you may be pushing the limits slightly.

I think if you were to get it in and running, you would have to add LOADS of gusseting so it didn't tear itself to pieces. Wheelbase would be shorter then the vtr frame, so if you hit the gas hard out of a turn you would most likely loop it. In a straight line it would wheel like a supermoto, ie all wheelie all the time.

It would need a whole new swing-arm setup as the nc30 arm wouldn't be able to house a wide enough rim to chuck a 180 or 190 on. Also suspension completely overhauled.

To get around the air box issue, you could stick a fuel tank under the seat and use an electric pump, to give you a few more liters of air box volume over the motor. It would mean moving the electrics further down the tail. Radiators could be on the outside of the frame. But you would need to think of crash protection for them, also customizing the shit out of the fairings to accommodate them.
