So a multipurpose grease should be ok?
Ill probably grease it a little i mean it couldnt do any harm, and may potentially help prolong the life of the cable, as for aftermarket parts I wont be using them again on my nc, the quality difference is huge and the honda parts are well worth the extra monies

well that's fair enough on the aftermarket stuff, that said I haven't had any issues with aftermarket bits on my NCs but that could be down to me avoiding Chinese made aftermarket bits (and no I'm not saying all Chinese made parts are bad quality)

yes a bit of multi-purpose grease should be ok...you can also use chain lube or actual cable lube like Motion Pro cable lube...even heard of people using motor oil to lubricate their cables (can't comment on this method though)

Grease will attract grit and crap> you want something thinner
