yeah in neutral, full choke and last started two weeks ago fireing order is the right way round, fuel is filling the chambers and must be getting sucked into the cylinders as i turn it over as ive had it where i just fill the fuel pipe when i thought it might be a fuel problem cant understand why it wont fireits got fuel air and the spark plugs spark fine ouside the engine??

Re: Wont start nc 30
Hi, the plugs wet up really easy, I'd take them out (even if its just the back two) and put a flame on the tips and get them nice and hot, maybe leave them out over night aswell, then try them again. If its not fireing on easystart them it cant be sparking!
Cheers

As others have suggested, if you have wet plugs then the engine's flooded.pete_vfr wrote: cant understand why it wont fireits got fuel air and the spark plugs spark fine ouside the engine??
The small plugs are fussy, any sign of flooding and they often won't produce a spark under pressure in the cylinders (even if they do spark outside the bike!).
You can revive the plugs as Ian said above, but not always. Leave the plugs out for a couple of days to dry the cylinders. Next time you try to start it, use full choke and no throttle. When the engine fires up, don't touch the throttle for a couple of minutes. This is the best way to start it until you become familiar with it's 'needs'.
Every single nc30 owner has probably been through this!

Re: Wont start nc 30
Hey all cheers for the advice got the plugs well hot and left them out the cylinders put them back in and again just turns over no spark now on a new development i was messing around with the ht leads one felt like it was broken ended up cutting it open to find the wires were orange in colour like coroded, so put the multi meter from one end of the lead to the other should bell out but instead i got open circuit could it be that the cable has so much resistance to it that it will spark outside the cylinder but not when under compression when the resistance inside the cylinder is higher?? let me know what you think if this could be the problem or if im chaseing my tail, also anyone know where i can buy some new leads?? cheers all

Re: Wont start nc 30
Usually the HT leads screw into the plug caps and the coils, they should not fall out, may be NC30 is different.
Haynes manual says plug caps have resistance but no mention of resistance for the lead. Cap to cap resistance should be 14-25 K ohms and without caps 11-14K ohms. If you set your multimeter to 20K ohm range do you get a resistance reading for the lead? Check the plug caps too, they can also go open circuit.
And yes too high a resistance in the leads or caps can cause loss of spark under compression.

Cheers Magg ill get the leads on it later had an old damaged plug cap that i cut up to have a look at and the plastic bit that conects to the ht lead is sealed so you cant change the lead out from what i can see?? ive had a look for new ht leads with caps for the nc30 seem to be rare as rocking horse s**t seen some used ones on ebay but dont want to put another old pair on could be just as bad.

I thought the OEM HT leads and caps were one piece going by their appearance in the Honda parts listing but was not sure. IF you can get OEM they will also probably be expensive, may be you can get long caps and just add your own leads.

Rick O does replacement HT leads with NGK caps, I believe. £36 according to the pricelist.

Re: Wont start nc 30
Hey all i brought some used but said to be in working order ignition coils and ht leads for nc30 they came today first thing i did was put multi meter on primary side 4 ohms no problem on both put it from cap to cap and got nothing on both so im assuming these that have been sent are knackerd as well tried them in just for the hell of it got no spark on either of them. ive seen new coil packs online for £40 but they have no caps on them and the one i took apart that i had spare the wire was soldered on seems alot of hastle.
