Re: advice please
that would be excellent if you have oneTaggy wrote:ive got a sprocket cover, think everyting is still attached to it! will double check for you tomorrow.

would it be taking the p*ss to get you to check the locknut and screw work so i can adjust it, (mine was locked solid)
on the list of things to doEvilchicken0 wrote:While you're in the maintenance mode take the shock linkage and swingarm and grease the bearings and bushes

as it happens the rear bearings look pretty new,and in good order, probably done at last sprocket and chain change, so there stayin in, just a good clean and new seals for them
the fronts were, as i new fu*ked, so as i only needed the 2, i got new ones locally for £12.07 the pair
also noticed a small oil leak from the clutch cover, so that's off as well and iv'e cut a new gasket from some gasket paper i had hanging about, so that's another job done
picked up the filter oil and coolant this am so now i'm just waiting on the ordered bit's to arrive

Re: advice please
It must be something in the air - I've cleaned up a pair of front calipers and ordered new seals for them. I've nearly finished a spare top fairing too - both are destined for Das Bay.

Re: advice please
and there's more
today the front wheel had a birthday, with a clean it will never forget,
(it took an hr to get the grime out of all the little nooks and crannies), then in with the new bearings and seals, gave the speedo drive a proper clean and re-grease, adjusted the headstock bearings, which were pretty dry but still in good shape, so after a clean and more grease the yolks were back together and the front wheel back in and all torqued up, so that's the front done,
can't do the back yet as mr fowler never had the seals for the rear, and i'm not gonna see them till fri/sat, so the thursday MOT is out,
new/home made gasket, and the clutch cover are back on, as is the new oil filter
got the sprockets today, renthal steel front 15T and ally back 43T gold, how light are they
(that's the sizes that came off, and it works for me, so just replaced with the same T) and once i get the sprocket cover with worm drive fitted, it's the back end next,
so job's to do,
check out the shock linkage and swinger bearings then as soon as i get the rear wheel seal, it's back together and then fit the chain & rear sprocket, then up the garden for a steam clean before the panels go on for a polish and with a bit of luck the MOT

Re: advice please
the MOT's off till next week now
got everything i need, even the sprocket cover and that was only posted wed got it thurs am
but fowlers ballsed up the rear sprocket carrier seal and only sent the front seals, then cancelled my order for the rear as the didn't have any, instead of forwarding then when they got em in, if i hadn't phoned yesterday to check i never would have got em either, now they say mon ish,
if i'd have drove the seals out with the bearing i could have re-used em, as i said the rears were in good nick, but as i had them ordered, i just plied em off and bent em
bloody wholesalers bane of my life

Re: advice please
at last the seal turned up today
only 12 days late
put the seal in the back wheel and put the wheel in, with the new sprockets and chain,
only thing is, i can't remember if there was any play in the front sprocket once the nut is done up,
i know they quite often do float a bit to allow for the movement of the chain
but before i put the sprocket cover on i'm just checking ??

Re: advice please
mine didnt have any play. you did put the locking tab washer thingy on first didn't you?
make sure the treads are ok, they are quite fine and get dirty easily.

Re: advice please
yeah, put the sprocket on then the lock washer then the nut, torqued it up to 70Nm and the nut is not tight against the sprocket, although it is tightTaggy wrote:mine didnt have any play. you did put the locking tab washer thingy on first didn't you?

the sprockets looked identical so i never put the vernier across em to check the thickness,
bollocks!!! i guess i'm gonna have to take it off and measure it against the old one,
and that was just the beginningEvilchicken0 wrote:Yes that would give me the hump too.
