I just did mine the other day and the specs call for 445ml, although mine ended up being a little bit less even after complete tear down and draining of the forks. Final measurement was based off the fork oil level which is 74mm with the fork leg fully compressed without the spring in place per Haynes manual. Measure down from the top of the fork tube on the inside to the oil level. Use a flashlight and a thin ruler to measure. Hope this helps.

The bike is back in one piece with few parts replaced, some refreshed.
My first ride on it quite enjoyable. Although I will need to work on it some more.

The front end feels a bit wobbly... Not sure if this is due to an old head bearings or the forks... There might be air trapped in them (possible?) I'd like to hear your ideas...

Also is it sensible to recondition the rear shock? It's really soft.

Have you got a haynes manual? When i did my RVF forks i the haynes manual says to pump the fork a number of times after filling with oil to get rid of the air.
As for the shock get a replacement, the original will be well shot by now and i dont think there rebuildable.

I might need to redo the forks at some point. As for the shock I just got an R6 one of ebay. According to RVFHooligan this thing fits perfectly (with minor adjustments)
I'll get this bike stripped down next week most likely. I'll probably have many more questions to ask.

Haha!!! Nah we are no hools anymore. Well maybe gixer riders are :) I ride 675 Daytona (supporting british motorsport) so I guess I'm alright. RVF I always wanted so finally have one.
And yeah the R6 shock we can easily name after you! I'll keep an eye on the top mount progress!

Yeah will do. It'll be a while though. I don't expect to get the bike going earlier than in a month. I can only do the bike work on weekends and nights.
Also I'll need an exact spec of that top mount from rvfhooligan.
