so your CBR125 thats only been out for 3yrs is brand spanking new compared to our 15-17yr old bikes....
if having no ON/OFF switch bugs you, why not buy a switch gear that does and wire it in. doubt it would be too hard.
i am glad that my bike has the switches, before i had the HIDs fitted; there was no way i could start the bike with even the dips on! too much draw off the battery.
don't need to worry about buying switch gear to turn the lights on/off.. firstly its a legal requirement for the lights to be on at all times and secondly the thing is going within the next couple of weeks! so should be on the nc23 which is gonna catch me out with the switchgear something chronic

>really, can you show me where it says that esp for bikes our age?
as far as i knew, they manufactures are building bikes and cars that have hard wired lights as some bright spark thinks its safer! last time i checked it had not become law that all new bikes/cars must have this, its still optional but manufactures are now taking away the choice!
+ i have never heard of a bike/car being pulled by cops for not having lights on apart from when its dark, then its duh!
its easy to get in to the habit of turning on the dips before you set off. you'll get used to it. those of us with switches have gotten used to it.

i do like the auto on lights on modern cars, when the light level drops the lights come on. fit that to bikes as well...

There is no light switch on mine. However when the starter button is pressed the lights are tuned off while the starter is running. I got mine new (not previously registered overseas) in 1996 so i presume it is one of the later ones. I tried fitting different switchgear only to find that the wiring is different on earlier models (fizz-bang went the fuses). I also burned out a couple of dip/main switches. In the dip position the power for the headlights goes straight through the switch whilst in main beam position the power goes through a relay, so now i always run on main beam. Has anyone else had the same problem?

yup. you fit a 2nd relay to the dip wiring. + upgrade the fuse for headlights.
it will burn out if you have more than the OEM wattage bulbs fitted. 55/35W is OEM, any more than that must have the 2nd relay fitted.

So, If I'm using the standard bulbs do you recommend I start up on full beam before setting back to dip, or is this just if you have upgraded bulbs?
BTW, I have never looked to see if I do have uprated bulbs, will look tomorrow if I get time.

start up on dip even if its blown. it uses less juice off the battery.
