You used new copper washers ... non directional ones

Woody do what EC said with the calipers after doing your test. To be honest these things are your life savers and never skimp on them so that means good seals both of them! The amount of brake dust that would get in without dust seal would be imense.

Could never agree with putting air in specially on a road bike so do a good job and have piece of mind when that bloody car pulls out in front of you!

Well what can i say fantastic feedback from everyone hear, i have joined many many different forums before (non motorcycle!) and i have to say the people on hear are brilliant, very helpful and are not full of sarcasm like i have found on forums before...

Right well luckily i had half a day to myself today, i tried everything that was advised by everyone on hear. Wheel alignment etc was all spot on so then i took the calipers off to have a proper look what was going on... every piston pushed back in by hand fairly easy (without the M/C cap off) and then pumped out again of the lever, pistons where then coming back into the caliper when the lever was released which is how it should work which was good... But then there is always one isn't there!! One of the big pistons on the left caliper was as tight as a ducks a***, so i am hoping that someone can confirm that just one tight piston is enough to cause a tight wheel when bike is on the stand?? This was the side that my old man put on the lathe and didnt quite polish enough looking at it and had a bit of stained surface... So i have removed it and polished it to a nice slippery mirror finish and removed the wiper seal again and the main seal and give a thorough clean, coated the seals and piston in brake fluid and it slid back into place nicely, so hopefully when i have a chance to bleed them (properly this time!) then it will be sorted!?

Looking at the brake pads also today they are quite low about 3 to 4mm not 1/4" as noted on previous post, so i think new brake pads are in order.. Where is the best place to get these from guys?

Yup one piston will do it, the calipers are fixed so the pistons work against each other and centraliseon the disks, if one lags then the pad will still be in contact with the disc.

I got my EBC HH pads on Ebay have a look for a two pair deal or ask if there's a saving on postage

Like you when I joined I had great help and still do! One piston sticking is enough sure, I'm never a fan of using the main seals once dismantled so as I am sure you have fixed the problem keep an eye on fluid level for a while. I'm not even sure if the seals are still available?

Right i have had a route for pads, i have a few hear that i have found.. but most seem to be road only pads will this be ok? Unless you pay £70 for Brembo.. It will be my first time out on the track so i don't really need anything to severe..

The EBC come just in pair's not as a full set so it's obviously twice the price as im sure you will know..

Another thing I found with the binding brakes on my VFR race bike.
Everything checked and cleaned.
When pumping the brakes to push out the pistons,pump slowly so all the pistons come out evenly when they come in contact with the disks.
I mean really s l o w l y.
Inevitably,one piston will push out faster than the others and when it hits the disk it will push the disk slightly to one side, flexing the disk in the dowels.
Only then will the other pistons start to move out against the disk.
That piston will not retract fully and cause the brakes to bind.
Always had a problem with dragging brakes until I started using this method.
Now,no matter what wheel I use (with varying thickness of brake disks),it spins freely.

Should have bought a Yamaha

Try some Bendix pads they are priced about the same as EBC HH but work very well. I got mine on ebay.
