It bumps brilliantly with no choke. doesnt like it with choke. Yhe the bike is absolutly fine when its warm it will start from the button with no throttle at all and will idle all day long. I think coils is where i will check next for sure. Think valves could do with a check to but it doesnt really seem to have a problem with compression.

Mine doesn't like choke either. I would really say battery or plugs now if the coils were prob it would be like it all the time, I had a bike that was like yours and I put yet another set of plugs in and problem was fixed! As said before use a car battery or a battery pack across your battery then start it no choke. Sounds as though it might be fine. Do us a favour and pm what you want for the bike, would be interested to know!

I will give the battery thing a try later on or on the weekend if i get time. Thing i may get some new coils as they dont cost to much and could be a easy fix.

I don't think it's the coils.
Do the battery first, all engine's are easier to fire when warm and a semi duff battery will have enough to turn it over. When the engine's cold it's harder so it takes more out of the battery. Soooo if your battery is borderline it can mean the difference between starting or not. When you bump start all the battery has to do is power the coils so it starts ok.

So check the battery.

Had a very similar problem last year at the start of cold season, well just before the big freeze. Batteries dont like this change of temperatures. If i dont catched it first time and kept it running, no chance it will start as it just didnt have enoough battery juice to do it. Replaced it with a new Yuasa, HEY! PRESTO, she fires up frist time all the time. And yeah never needed choke neither even if its toattlly freezing out there.

Ive hooked my battery up to my brothers car battery and it didnt make any difference. Think i may have to get a new battery as my old one was not taking a full charge i now have my dads vfr battery but still doesnt make a difference. Going down the electrical route now.

Are you getting sparks using start button? So unlikely both coils are playing up....

I think i am it does try to fire for abit then just wont even try. guess i will have to check the coils just incase. I was also thinking about changing the starter motor, it just sounds like its not even trying to turn the bike over it just gives a half hearted attempt at starting it. Damn bike

Understand where your coming from!!I must admit that the starter would be next port of call! Might have a short in the windings thAt is leaking to earth. With car battery it really should spin fast!

If the battery is ruled out then I'd move onto electrical connections next. Check they're all clean and tight by taking them off and cleaning them with carb cleaner and wet'n'dry. Put them back to gether with a smear on vaseline on them. There's a flat back diode box on the rear subframe, make sure the wires are ok going into this and again clean the connection block, obviously pay special attention to the solenoid and starter motor connections.
