You are right in that it feels like catching a neutral...as you are going through neutral.
Clutchless shifts have a use and that is basically when ragging it on a track. It sounds like you are having fun with your bike and learning about how they work adn riding in general.
Take the time to be sympathetic to your bike - it is old. If you want to use clutchless shifts then you'll usually be going as fast as you can - full throttle, slight lift and twat the gear in. Remember if you miss this gear you are going to bounce on the rev limiter and that sounds nasty.
You can do clutchless shifts downt he box too - but that is difficult and unless and until; you master blipping the throttle when using the clutch for down shifts then stay well away..
I would guess that in a couple of months the novelty of trying to do clutchless shifts at all opportunities will fade and you'll then be at the enxt stage - being smooth.....which is faster and nicer to the bike
