And fitted (sorry its obscure):

Quick edit: the fitting sits inside the castillation... not sure if that's clear from the photo?

great, many thanks for that. I'll try and work on it tonight. The LHS sits over the nut does it, sorry, I can't remember what the bike looks like from work!

Yea,

The fitting on the handle side of the stand sits OVER the nut, and the bit you screw in (brass handle) goes inside the fitting, which sits inside the castle nut.
Don't forget to tighten the black handled screw before you try and fit the stand.
Also, I find taking the strain onto the stand while supporting the bike, and then giving the bike a little rock (left to right), will help settle the fitting alignments, I do this then a double check before screwing on home.
I also screw the handle out as far as it will go to take the fitting before fitting the stand to ensure I don't run out of thread if I miss-align the stand/something hasn't seated well.

Apologies if this seems patronising/obvious, just little things I've found!

thanks Rich, i got it all sorted tongiht, made something up from a couple of pieces of pipe for the LHS, the RHS I just used the one from the ducati fitting kit that came with it. So managed to get the back wheel off, give it a good clean and adjust the rear shocks. . . . .all set for a run into Wales at the w/e :-)

Nice! Hope the weather stays fair for you, take care up the Beacons if that's where you're off, there's some lush, but sharp corners!
The first ride I went on was over the Beacons! #mistyeyed

cheers, further north tho, over the Berwyns in Bala and on towards Portmadoc.
Had a good run on the bike tonight, 130kms. had it flat at around 130 on the clock a few times. got in at 12.30am! handles nice, suspension not the best but i;m used to newer stuff that's much better. it turns in so quick. with decent suspension you can see why these bikes have such a following. roll on tomorrow
