Well that means - for a start - generator, road loom and rectifier (as you won't get far on total loss with lights), horn, speedo, headlight, all aux lights including indicators (it's not old enough to have none legally), proper headlight / fairing subframe, both brakelight switches (those rearsets will need a pressure switch probably), mirrors, tail tidy suitable for full-sized numberplate, exhaust baffles... Shall we keep going?

Does he even (still) have a V5 and legal registration mark?
He is getting a V5, he took the bike to a local DVLA place today, and the numbers are on record and match up.

He knows roughly what's needed, but does not understand the work required.
I suggested a new loom, and he spoke of a GSXR generator.

I said buy a hydraulic brakelight switch and fit a standard front one, plus mirrors and leave it at that. I don't really want to get involved

Dave.
If you really don't want any part of it, then tell him so. It'll be best in the long run.

Otherwise, you could (let us) write him a shopping list, and then either just do the fitting, or just help him out if he gets stuck. For me, it's the sourcing of all the bits which is the biggest ball-ache.

He will also need a chainguard. Probably best to get a flat-mounted twin light, as there's probably not much subframe left to mount an original off of?

I agree, he understands I am not interested for the reasons you outline, but he is non mechanically minded which is why I have worked on his RC30s and 45 for ther last few years.

Dave.

Dave I apologise for possibly giving joel some ideas! He emailed me a while back asking a few questions!

I'll take on the task of sorting it for him to make it legal (daytime MOT'd) if you want to pass that on to him.

Cheers Kev

Kev,

Ah, that explains why he has not been quizzing me, although he came round Monday on his way through and again mentioned getting it on the road.
I will let him know.

Thanks,
Dave.
