Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
Its the middle of summer man what are you doing!!! put it back together

I have a solution for your workshop woes,
Lay slabs instead of the grass, now theres no need for a lawnmower or other related garden shite filling up that other shed

Sell both 8x6 sheds
Build/Buy one 12x8 shed, or bigger if you can
Move in, be happy
If she kicks up about it remind her of the sacrifice you made moving there

Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
i know i know, i had to think hard about that one,,, summer fun or get on with itIts the middle of summer man what are you doing!!! put it back together
ive had some issues with the cooling system so i thought f**k it , if i dont do it now i never will , i think i can cope with loosing this summer ,iv had 3 years with her in this state and gave her a bit of a spruce up last summer but there's things that are bugging me to death, (plus i get fed up looking on here at all the immaculate NC's)
lookin at my budget and time scale between work kids and the missus, she should be comming out the other end spring time'ish,
and as far as the sheds go , one for assembly and the other for parts clean up (im in discussions for a whopper shed but i doubt ill see it this build, any spare cash is thrown at the bike right now)

Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
thats it , engine is finally out, swingarm off , in the shed is a small mountain of manky parts ready for the mamoth task of clean up and restore,
all bearings removed from frame and swinger , hub came out ok and the sprocket carrier off the axle all gave with no real head ache , rear manafold came off with no probs and all studs intact

might i just add , what a f**kin job that was to get this far , i dont want to have to do that again in a hurry , so im glad its done and now can start to work out the order of things to do, so first will be a degrease of the frame and swinger so i bought some SOC degreasent from rock-oil (brilliant stuff) comes in a handy pump bottle rather than the paint on stuff by "gunk" so frame and swinger ,yokes plus some other bits and bobs are off to the coaters sometime this week ahead , in the mean time the wire wheel will be doing overtime

Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
pile of stuff went to the coaters today , he quoted me £100 for frame, swinger, sub frame, sidestand, clock brackets, plus various loom brackets and top/bottom yokes, prepped and coated, pick up a week friday , result

ordered a pile of stainless bolts to replace all the bolts for the clocks and subframe/frame and have cleaned up all the engine bolts an spacers swingarm bolts and castle ring jobbys so are now looking like new,
head bearings are on order aswell as the needles and rollers for the swinger ,
in the mean time , time to start the manky clean up of the motor, ready for when the frame comes back ,
seen these look ok for the price , any one fitted these ??

Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
little bit more progress today , cleaned up the rear axle and related parts , think ill replace the sprocket for a nice renthal one in gold before it goes back on the bike tho

the rear hub on the otherhand is wanked, i really didnt want to put this back in my nice freshly powder coated swingarm , all the teeth are truley mangled and some are missing

but good old unky geoff was kind enough to send me this
  (thanks unky geoff)

all teeth intact, bearings are good , not even a mark on it and looks brand new , what a result

Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
not much stuff done over the last few days as work and family has overtaken my free time , but a pile of stuff has arrived

stainless engine bolt kit
a 560pc stainless bolt kit
taper headrace bearings
all swingarm bearings and seals from d,s
suzuka endurance front end
freshly powder coated wheels
fuel tank
trip to powder coaters in a few days to pick up the frame and swinger , then we're in business and can crack on with the rebuild
