You ever tried this spooky? or the other method of a capful into each carb? Is it any good is all i'm wondering coz it would be great to have an effective carb cleaning method that didnt invlove removing them.

I take it I would need to open up the float chambers and spray them inside with carb cleaner and then put back together?

Yea that should do it, just a good spray of the jets aswell to clear em out.

And a paddock stand is non-essential for this job, although personally i find it easier than when it is at an angle. An abba stand is an essential piece of kit for any DIY mechanic, worth every penny!! :)

No I didn't try the half bottle method but I have done the capfull into the carbs. Hard to tell if it cleans them well enough as it wasn't running to bad to begin with but I did it anyway as I'd just got the bike and I just wanted to give them a clean up so I tried this as I'd seen it in a shop, it didn't do any harm as far as I can tell. loads of smoke come's out when you do it though.

Haynes didn't do a manual for the NC24, just the NC30, the NC30 manual lists the specs in the back thats about it, most of the procedures for the 30 can be followed for the 24 though! If it's a copy of the japanese service manual please let me know as i'm already bored of scanning mine in!

Overhauling a carb is easy if you do them separatley and take your time!

By the time you've read that you should be familiar with what your doing.

Each part you remove, examine that its ok, spray it with carb cleaner (a solvent type degreaser and let it dry on some newspaper)

The jets are just really small tubes that can get blocked easily, especially with old petrol thats gone off! Spraying compressed air through these might help!
