I think they bought in 100 but a lot of them were sold before they hit the showrooms. They're rare but there are quite a few 3TJ2 imports, they have CV carbs which are a bit more road friendly than the later flatslided ones.

its expensive but it looks absolutely mint condition by the looks of things, you dont see many in thet sort of nick and that sort of mileage.its worth whatever your prepared to pay i guess, but at over 2 grand id be surprised if it gets sold anytime soon, but its a minter so go and make an offer he can only say no. just remember that it wont be the only tidy 3tj for sale theres loads out there.one other thing is if your going to use it regularly it aint gonna stay mint for long and youll have a hard time getting your money back if you want to sell in a couple of years but if its a sunny sunday only bike it might be a good investment coz there arnt many left that look as good as that!just to put things in perspsctive,im collecting a 13000 mile old,2 owner, fsh mint 2000 r1 tommorow which was only 500 quid more than that 3tj in the pics.but i can see why your tempted its a beauty!

It's a very clean 4DX isn't it? It's lovely, but a touch overpriced I think. Any promise of a service should be taken with a pinch of salt, I'm not trying to sound like a nay-sayer, but unless you're there watching the mechanic do the work I'd be tempted to do the work myself and get a good chunk off the asking price.

For that money, I'd be looking at the 3TJ SP that was advertised on here recently ;)

its not that they dont weather well its that thyre all already 20 years old and the uv rays and damp that hurt a bikes finish has already had a head start unless its been hermetically sealed in a darkened room.its just that general use starts to take its toll, jacket zips on tanks, stonechips, dust, grease petrol uv rays all harm a bikes finish.im not precious about my bikes theyre all there to be ridden and used all year round, but paying 2200 for a minter and using it all year round you aint gonna see even half your money back at the end of ownership.the finish on them though is ok in my experience.the paint fades and the ally gets furry but they aint bad as a rule.look around and save yourself a grand then youve got some cash to upgrade the suspension and have a real giant killer!

It's god that you've seen that 4DX (That's he UK code for the bike), it gives you an idea of what an immaculate condition bike looks like, not the "mint" or "super mint" that you'll hear from some traders. If you want that particular bike then try them on 1800 but as we say it's not going to be an everyday bike. A service should be oil; filters; plugs; coolant, the chain should be cleaned, lubed and tensioned ... but if you were to do it yourself you'd probably change the brake fluid. The thing is though these things often get "overlooked".

But really you should get a good 3TJ for half that

You could build an awesome 4/6 for around £800 if you shop around ;)
