I have some rubber pads glued to the frame on my race bike. You do need the rubber that sits under the front tab of the tank though for it to be mounted tightly.

Hi, i used a bit of rubber hose pipe for the front mount, have the standard back rubber mount. Doesnt wobble at all!

Good thread! I just realized I have been missing the front rubber since I bought the bike! Just assumed that was how it is supposed to be.
