If anything the springs will have richened up your midrange meaning you were lean beforehand.

The extra washer raises the needle (richer) an extra 0.5mm through its whole movement.

The hrc slide springs don't make a linear change to needle fuelling like an extra washer does. The springs richen up the midrange without affecting other rev areas as much as an extra washer would. A better option in my opinion, and quite cheap from Rick Oliver.

112/117, 1.5/8 12.5mm = easy to start, idle nice, pulls stronger when warm low down, flat between 5-7k, pulls strong to the red in all gears after 8k

112/115, 1.5/8 12.5mm = as above perhaps felt a bit nicer up top, mid range the same.

112/112 1.5/8 12.5mm + extra washer = as above but pulls harder after flat spot, flat spot feels possibly a bit easier to live with.

112/112 1.5/8 12.5mm + extra washer + 8mm shorter springs = as above, stronger again up top to the red, mid feels same really.

i really do wonder if i have one air circuit in one carb with issues. any idea which ? they all seem to blow through fine.

However - i have found something. small but might make a difference.
one of the airscrews had no metal washer or rubber sealing washer.
now i wonder if that was upsetting the midrange in any way.
fixed it now, grease on the orings and set all to 1 5/8 so lets see what happens next run out
