really dont know what to do. im scared that if i buy a new cdi, same thing will happen again. (cdi's arent cheap)

The one on the left is the Honda item, the one on the right is a decent aftermarket replacement. If it is your CDI that's melting you are in a world of pain!

Are you 100% its dripping from inside the cdi as they have very little inside them, if you have a ohm meter i would be checking the charging rate across the battry to see how many volts the reg/rec is supplying the bike with to see if its over charging.

yeah im quite sure its the cdi. i have a voltmeter. what are the correct figures i should be seeing?

eg. idling - 12v
idling with headlights on. 11.2v
rev over 5k - 13.2 rpm

It's most likely a water-resistant paste. I have the same stuff on the connector block that goe to my dash on the 'Blade. It's basically to keep water out of the connectiong and looks/feels like vaseline.

Hi i'm from Singapore and i have the same problem. I brought it to a mechanic and they confirmed it's from the CDI. Like they say it's supposed to keep the water out but the CDI overheated the gum and it drips towards the exhaust pipe. The only solution is to replace the CDI.

If you drill the rivets out of a CDI and pull the PCB out, you'll find that the whole thing is covered in a clear resin (for water proofing I assume). If that melts and 'drips', then it's definitely time for a replacement CDI

Dripping stopped after I flipped the cdi and put it in place... Will update if anything starts going haywire. Apparently its a very common problem with nc35s in singapore...
