if you've got the older damper rod type of fork, you may want to go as high as 20 or 25 weight oil.
I ran mine with 30 wt.
adding oil helps to avoid harsh bottoming, but it does not stiffen the fork action.
Be careful not to add too much or it can hydro-lock.

If you've got the newer cartridge forks, then you have many more options.

Fork and shock servicing should be done regularly. Not many do it, but it doesn't stay "fresh" all that long. Casual street riding, maybe a year. Regular track riding, every 3 or 4 months.

sorry for bring back this old topic, i had search for anything for NC23 rear shock conversion but with no joy..

anyone knows if we can replace the stock NC23 rear shock with 600 shock just like the simple NC29 conversion ?

The old CBR600 shock fits straight in but it lowered the bike when i had it. No real adjustment.
FS shocke but you need the GF linkage is the way to go

i just saw that the stock linkage for 23 and 29 is so different... and i think there is no point to upgrade to old 600 shock if there is no real adjustment..

The cbr 6 shock is adjustable for preload, rebound and compression.

You will need to buy a linkage though.
