I think it might be michael on here who has an electric water pump on his race bike, he might be one to talk to for some first hand experience.

Some things to think about

Electric pumps will take power from the battery, if running total-loss you need to factor this in.

However.

A mechnical pump always pumps at a consistant rate in relation to the engine RPM, regardless of engine temp, this makes it take longer to warm up.

When you've been nailing the bike for extended period, i.e track bike then drop the revs the coolant flow will slow down, this can make the engine internally heat up really rapidly, this can be bad for the engine.

With a decent electrical pump you can set things such as minimum operating temperature, which aids warming up of the bike.

The pump can run at a good speed with the bike idling / switch off, which will allow uniform cooling of hotspots in the engine.

Fit a good one, rip out the thermostat and let the pump controller do it all.

Relibility is really good and i've not heard of one failing, but a mechnical pump will usually run forever, but I have seen a few fail (including my own) so either one isn't bullt proof, but a decent pump has many advantages.
