I only seem to be losing out on acceleration, corner speed better and braking later, just need that punch out of the slow corners.
I have done loads of things to improve overall, the temptation is to say sod it and buy a track ready 600RR for 2k5 but I have ridden one and they don't seem to handle like my NC.

That's because they're quicker  Seriously though, the gearing you're after will be a blast - why would you want to go faster than 100 on a 400 roadie?

No skill in going fast in a straight line.
I can keep up but I have to work hard so have to rely on late breaking but soon as a long straight say up over hilltop at oulton they come straight past.
Not sure what the top speed of a 600 is over hilltop but by the time I get through Hislops chicane I am on their back wheel again hence the change to give better acceleration.

I found Oulton is about the worst rtack for giving the 400 trouble. Too many stop start sections that go uphill!!

Get it to Cadwell...you don't get it so bad.

14/41 is about right IMO for OUlton, Cadwell, Mallory - most tracks. it also avoids the 1/3 ratio where you wil be wearing the chain agasint the same sections all the time - if that makese sense..it would wig me out!

I have PM'd Jacknell to take up his offer of 14/41 to see how it goes - .
also got the 17 inch set up with Diablos' for next outing - hope it's dry.
Planning to do cadwell and anglesey next year, Oulton is just so handy for me and such an awesome circuit.

I have changed my rear wheel to a RVF 17", and am running a 16-40. I think its a bit tall and does not rev out. I've taken the speedo off, but in speed checks with mates bikes it seems to be reving aproximately:
6,200rpm = 100kph
10,000rpm = 160kph

What is the most common chain and sprocket set up?
What are you revs to speed?
What revs are safe to sit on for extended periods? ok, so many questions....................
