I agree with most of the stuff in the thread.

Unless your a track-god or have an unlimited amount of money you'll struggle to find something that looks, sounds, handles as good and is as forgiving for same amount of money.

Bigger bikes might be faster in a straight line but can be harder to throw around and dont' like changing lines as quick as the NC.

The NC can be a bit cramped and uncomfy for touring but they wern't really designed for it.

Nor straight-line grunt.

If your mostly riding striaght A-roads with a group of weekend warriors or don't like maintainance then maybe a bigger , newer bike would suit you.

The NC's are getting on a bit now and need maintainance now and then.

I'd recommend at least one track day even if your going to sell it, it's an experience.

I've seen a vfr750 engine in an NC30 frame, apparently the engine bolts striaght in but the carbs are a bit tricky to install.

I have to agree with most of what has already been said. I am fortunate to own a bigger bike and actually bought the rvf for kicks. I must admit on the straight I like my bigger kawasaki, but as soon as a corner comes up on almost any open road then nothing gives me bigger smiles than the lil 400!

If you truly have sorted everything on your vfr then the small fee for a track day event is nothing, and i'm sure that will rekindle your love for your 400.

To be honest I am thinking the opposite to you, and I am actually thinking to sell my bigger bike due to it getting used less and less.

I have an RVF an a ZX636 as road bikes and a GSXR600 as a track bike and can honestly say I prefer the 600s over the 400 and can't ever remember being outbraked into corners by a 400 either.

What about a VTR1000 motor?

I agree though...but a 400 on the track works lovely and doesn't threaten to highside you too much.
