the white wire (headlight) is connected by a connector from the main loom and switch loom.

i detached the connector, and tap relay wire (86-pin) to white wire (switch loom) and relay wire (87-pin) to white wire (main loom).

both white wires stay detached from their connector.

from my understanding, what u want to do (to the white wire) is the same thing that i did. correct me if i'm wrong.

Thank you for the extra info zul, it is invaluable to see a picture of what you have done and now feel confident that I stand a chance of not frying my wires when I turn on those Philips X-treme bulbs that I have been itching to try out.

Ok just done this mod and it does appear to work (nice click when the relay works), so thank you to thunderace and zul_cbr for putting up with my confusing questions.

I used thunderace's recommendation of a seperate power lead and fuse, I also took note of zul_cbr's way of splicing the 86/87 leads, thanks lads.

Now to put the bits back on and tidy up.

Believe me it worked first time, no problems, well apart from the fact I have the relay wrapped in a cut down black plastic bottle until I can find a rubber boot to keep it waterproof I also need a few spare fuses before I do my commuter thing, just in case.

Not been out yet but from what I can see the Phillips extreme bulbs are at least 50% brighter and whiter than the Honda ones, dont think they are as bright as the HIDS I had on but at least I will be legal with these and give a better light than OEM. Cant wait to check em out on my way from work down those dark country lanes, Thursday morning.

Two bulbs at 60w = 120w, divided by 12v = 10A max continuous loading (there will be a spike at startup). So use anything from 15A wire and relays, upwards. There is no such thing as too thick unless you are counting grams, pennies, or have trouble routing the wires where they need to go.

Think of wire as like plumbing pipe. Too narrow will limit flow until the excess pressure makes the pipe pop. Too thick will not cause you any problems at all.
