Im not wanting to throw any more money at this at all.

But i cannot afford to even contemplate buying another bike.

If i was to buy a 2nd bike i would have to do so much swaping over from this bike to that bike it would be annoying.

1. Swap forks over as i have cleaned and resealed these perfectly with 15W oil also.
2. Clip ons as they have heated grips fitted
3. pegs and levers as they are all painted black and laqueared
4. Paint frame black
5. fit my fairings as i have painted them in the colour i wanted, I didnt want an origional colour fairing on my bike.
6. front brakes as they have stainless pistons fitted and braided hoses
7. ignition barrel as fuel filler cap is black and i wouldnt want 2 different keys

I know these are easy to do, but ive been really down in the dumps recently due to a lot of issues with my personal life and fixing this bike was all that was keeping me going forward.

I just dont know what to do no more :( :( :(

keep going fella, think of it as a steping stone, to a winter project, "projects" dont have to be expensive, only as expensive as you make it,

i am on a tight budget every month, i have 3 kids, a wife, and a house with about £1000 of bills, each month, which leaves me with £100 to spend on the bike which isnt a lot, it gets me down because theres some much i want to do, and i haggle with every person i need parts, i even ask to loan things so i can refurb mine etc.

on the other had if you did buy a 2nd bike, you only want the engine, you could scrap the rest and sell them for probally far more then you actually paid for the bike.

i did that with this NC21 (i bought for the engine) and its stuck not selling and parents are getting fed up with a half stripped ER5 and stripped NC21 sitting around the place :(

I cant afford this to be a winter project, My 4yrs NCB runs out on the 16th october (been off 2 years with injury) so i need a MOT on the bike to insure it tpo then it can be a winter project.

I have like £5 a week to use on the bike as i get £40 off the government and that has to include food and bills etc

You can, to ride a bike to the MOT (i.e. one that has been off the road it must have Insurance, which you get before MOT'ing it) Riding the bike to the MOT without insurance is illegal (needs to be trailered), I road my last import which had no tax nor a registration plate at the time to the MOT, thats insured with footman james, it was insured almost a month (on frame number) before it got registered. One of my others was insured for nearly 5 months before I got time to take it to the MOT station, still isn't taxed though just laid up.

I said all this a long time ago but here is a re-cap.

1. Don't throw tonnes of money at an NC21 / 24, theres a lot of neglected basket cases out there which will cost the earth, you can still get a decent machine for £500ish, £650 for a great one that you could 'clean up' rather than rebuild totally.. there not worth much and you won't sell parts very quick unless you have a supply of good collectorboxes.

2. Footman james do laid up insurance for bike that are in 'project' status. Speak to them, there classic bike speciaialists.

3. A lot of insurance companies have in their clause that they won't cover a bike without a valid MOT certificate, this is for riding on the road, i.e. if your riding around without an MOT your insurance is invalid, theres usually another clause to say it is insured to take it to and from any places that a test is required, i.e. MOT.

FJ are probably the best place to start.

Oh and if your doing the valve stem steals you need to remove all the valves and change the head-gaskets.. you can make an nc30 gasket fit fairly easily

Id love to buy another bike, swap all the parts off this one onto that one and then sell that one as a runner that is smokey

But i cannot afford to do that, I have £0

I wont be rebuilding the engine as im not throwing no more at this bike.

The VFR400 NC24 is my dream bike and if i cannot sort it i may as well give up and get a new bike that actually works :( Man this is really really doing my head in now.

you can be insured without TAX & MOT FACT so youve spoken to the wrong brokers/dealers.
