okay after plenty of revving the bike and squeezing the lower rad hoses I've got all the air out and topped it up.. I then put the rad cap back on and it didn't leak or overflow anywhere so hopefully the problem is fixed. Will keep a close eye on the temp gauge over the next week.

Thanks guys! Going to get a dynotune/rejet/carb balance tomorrow so hopefully that goes well!

Hey, saw your thread a little too late (hopefully). If the problem returns, I might then suggest inspecting the water pump and thermostat for abnormalities. Both of mine have failed and been replaced. Also, keep an eye on the cap in future as they seem to be the weak point on the RVF (rather disappointingly). :ugeek:

There usually bullet proof... UNLESS you use non-motorcycle anti-freeze (coolant)

The car stuff has Silica (sand / glass particles in it) these keep the car engine clean but over-time these errode the waterpump and cause it to fail in a bike.

you always want silicia free antifreeze.
