My project is official RR too, but I already have a mint RR one. So may turn this one in something else.CRM wrote:Jason i am going with the standard RR scheme yes. will need to replace all panels as all these are really tatty, fine for winter but thats it.
undecided to stay with 525 chain or goto 520.
I stayed with the 525 chain. Fitted brand new Tsubaki chain with JT sprockets standard gearing 15-38.
Well said, Paul. I have similar reasons and I know my project will cost me more than just to buy a minter, but as a fact there are only 64 x official titled and registered RVF's out here in this country so it makes it pretty special and rare. Genuine and personal reasons to get something to do and another bike I can adjust to my specs.CRM wrote:Jim i would agree, if you can find a minter then buy it. so long as your happy with it, and dont feel the urge to strip it and get dirty with it then buy a good bike to start with.
however i wanted one to get to know, and make sure was right and something to do. i have enough projects and ideas this one just moved to the front of the pile for some reason.
i know it will cost a grand more at the end than buying a nice one, but i plan on keeping it. also i wanted an early one too not a later RT model. (personal reasons)
Quality wise, well things just fit a bit better on the 30, less corners cut, and i like the engine finish on the 30 over the rough cast finish on the 35, bodywork fit on the 30 over the 35 and so on. again more personal reasons, but i think most who have worked on both would agree.

Can't say I have found much difference between the 30 and 35, but I prefer to ride the 35.
I like the early 35 colours better than the later one.
The build quality and ease, or lack of ease to work on seems similar, and they perform in a similar way.
The plastic lugs seem easy to brake on both, although I have not broken any, all my NCs had several broken.
The 35 feels bigger [it isn't] and pulls better, but I can only base opinion on 1 35 and 4 30s, I did ride a modified 30 [forks, shock, brakes, engine] and that was the best, more 30s seemed to be modified than 35s for some reason.
I still want a UK 30 though.
One poor point is the bare unpainted aluminium engine, not like the beautifully finished 30.
The RC45 is the same, how poor.
Dave.

Re: CRM's RVF400 project - Project " skinned knuckels"
this might be because Nc30's are cheaper to get the hold of so they can be purchased by a wider range of folk were Nc35's still hold a decent price ,and why pay more for a bike when the cheaper one is better and looks just a little different and most change how they look anyway.arsey30 wrote: more 30s seemed to be modified than 35s for some reason.

Actually i was talking to paul about this yesterday, i have taken off so much annodised shit off bikes over the years, i think we need to build a forum special based on as much colour mismatch, crap quality faded shit we can lay our hands on.

I've got some red anodised bar-ends to donate for the cause, lasted a whole hour on the bike after I bought it before being tossed into the dark recesses of the shed, yuk yuk!
