Nc's are in no way powerfull enough to get the front up properly, your be replacing forks seals constantly or at worse do more serious damage.

-1 on the front = high acceleration.
+2 or 3 on the rear = high acceleration.

Also, take heed of the warnings about the oil pickup.. You wheelie, the bike starves of oil and it dies.

As these are 20years old then why not be nice to it and try not to kill it...

dude, just go buy a bandit or something else. the NC is not ideal to wheelie, several young lads over the years with varying degrees of talent have succeeded and some failed, all however have snapped engine mounts and killed engines very very quickly.

tell you what, ignore that above, after 12 years of NC30 ownership i might be all wrong, just go down one on the front, 44 on the rear, 520 chain, and get a mate to film it and pop em on youtube so we can all see them.

i have a couple of engines i will reserve for you, i think you will be needing them very soon lol.

agree. my other bikes wheelie accidentally, way more fun and easier to control and land.

Buy a bigger bike if you wanna wheelie a sports bike or buy a super-moto. I'd never intentionally wheelied the VFR but on the 1000RR I tend to do it all too often now. Right through first then into 2nd before coming down (landing the front at over 100mph)

My method on the 'Blade is ride up to about 5/6000rpm, slide my arse back in the seat and just turn the throttle a bit quicker than normal et voila, up comes the wheel. Roll the throttle to control the balance and then kick it into 2nd before hitting the limiter.

There's also the clutch-up method. If you wanna clutch up the VFR I'd say get up to about 7000rpm in 1st gear and dip the clutch. Small steps is the key. It's taken me a year of owning the 'Blade to get to where I am now and I'm still not 'great' at it, but I am OK at it. Get a mate out with you and with a camera if you can so you can see how high you are. You always think you are higher than where you actually are. There's been times when I thought I was gonna flip the bike but when speaking to mates who were out with me they said it was far from it.

Old thread resurrection but oh well.

I had a friend who was a motocross racer and also had an NC30. He was amazingly talented and could somehow clutch up his NC in second gear on stock gearing. I saw him wheelie right up to 5th gear and over a mile! It's all about talent, ability and confidence not the bike itself or it's power. He said the trick was mostly the balance point and confidence in the back brake. He barely used to speed up during some wheelies due to being perfectly balanced and could stand up on the pegs. Hell he could wheelie a restricted 50cc moped for however long he wanted to. He used to drop the front when he got bored!! I could bring my old one up in first easily and ride through second before dropping the front. I'm older and wiser now but I wouldn't mind having another go at a few wheelies. Contrary to popular belief clutching up a wheelie is actually more controlled than using the power.

I can say from watching my mate for over a year abuse his NC with long wheelies that these oil pickup 'issues' are overstated. How do people know NC's have oil pickup issues when hardly anyone can wheelie them?
