if you think £1.6k is expensive, take a look at the below....this is genuine, i did a quote for my wife a few months back on a vfr 400 and even had emails come through showing me the monthly premium!
The compulsory excess ain't too bad on that 95K quote.

Mate of mine is selling an FZR400 3TJ for a grand....might even deliver it..lol
Agreed... when I was looking and ended up with my CBR the FZRs were cheaper... but unfortunately I preferred the CBR, and have fallen for mine completely now having had it a year.

If you're going to keep the bike for a fair while it might be worth it, but consider how whether you'll want to stay on a 400 once you've been riding for a while.

this is the thing, i will have it 2 years minimumm because of my restriction. Then with the restrictors out, you have a whole new bike again! so it'll be mine for 2+ years!

i'll probably keep the 400 and get a car also so it wont be no 1 year bike for me

may i point out to EVERYONE that insurance quotes are unique quotes to that individual. circumstances unique to that person wont affect someone else.
male or female
your post code makes a difference
if anyone from your address has previously made a claim on any type of insurance
if its in a brick built shed or parked in a back garden
how long they have held a licence/CBT
points/lack of
previous accidents/lack of
where the bikes parked during the day; i have been asked where i park it while at work before!
how many miles you do in a year.
if your a member of any known clubs/association's eg: BMF/MAG/AIM
and of course, what the bike is, mods, paint job etc

best way to see what it will cost is to do as many quotes as you can, then pick the best.
keep on doing this for the next 3-4 years
