Help identifying my NC30

As Superlight says, the numbers are the way to go. Mines a 91 on paper but check the frame number and it's an 89.
I'd guess that, faced with a load of Japanese documents, the importers took a best guess attitude to year of manufacture

Maybe it didn't come with paperwork, a lot of bikes over-here dont' come with all the correct paperwork so the bike has to be 'dated' by an approved body.

Depending on how good they actually are the date might be here and there a bit...

It's a funny thing this import business. The majority of NC30/35s in Australia are plated as NSR250s (compliance plate riveted to the frame), as they mostly come from just a couple of the big wholesale importers. I guess it's easier for the importers, and probably perfectly legal to do this since it's effectively a newly born vehicle in the country. It does confuse the cops though

frame number and seat tray sticker say the dating on this one is about 3 years out!

I reckon the old shock collapsed so much the tyre rubbed against the undertray and wore a hole! And the previous owner replaced the shock and the undertray.Check the frame number that will be model of the bike unless its been re-framed! It is a later shock, has it got a remote resevoir on the r/h side underneaths the rear footpegs? I wouldnt worry about it, just enjoy it

Frame number is NC30-101xxxxx as stated in previous post :) it has a remote reservoir bolted to the subframe on the r/h side :)

I take it this is good from a spec p.o.v but bad for keeping the bike original then? Cheers for the advice guys ], I'm much happier about it's history now

Well fork wise its good, but they will probably need recondtioning anyway new oil etc. undertrays are the same, and i reckon pretty much all non reconditioned shocks with or without remote are pretty knackered to be honest. You will need to look at the shock soon i reckon. From an originality point of view i wouldnt worry about it, importers swapped bits around and made good bikes out of not so good bikes. Dont forget its over 20 years old and an import a lot of things are going to be swapped or knackered. The good thing is bits are still cheap. Just clean it up get it running nice, a few nice mods and ride it.
