Ive a similar looking box on my baby bandit and it was made by daytona in japan, it advances the timing a little and gives me 14500 rpm as apossed to 13500 OE.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but Hanna did you ever have a look inside your CDI?

Also does anyone know of a way of checking out if the map on these CDI's are different to standard (i.e software or someything?) ?

Yes mate i did open it - nothing special looking inside, and esp nowhere for a USB plug.

Im gazumped!

i think the only way to test is back-to-back dyno run.

The only way to check it would be to check the timing at various revs.
