GSXR400 GK76 - Cold start problem

Iv got a starting problem and its giving me hel. I replaced the cdi and im running cr8ek plugs. when thebike is hot it wont start at all. It sounds as if there is no spark.
Please can anyone help.

this could be a compression issue, or perhaps a custom installed overheat shut-off?

Hi Guys

Another south african here (Johannesburg).
I purchased my gsxr400 2 days ago. I really like the bike but i have not been able to start it since I got it home.The battery was totally stuffed and replaced today . Okay so here's what I have found :
There are general carbs issues associated with this bike. http://tonysleep.co.uk/gsxr400carbs seems to be the way to go. I suspect i may have the problem described here cos I apear to be flooding when I try to start as I can smell the fuel. Maybe my spark plugs are the problem Im gona try change them tomorrow.... (gona try the CR8EIX suggested here in the forum). NO spark would also probably cos the flooding . Im no exprt total noob. Im hoping the plus are similar to a cars which i am familiar with. What i am hoping for is finding an expert on these bikes in my area. The ultimate mechanic who I can trust to help me with this and knows where to get things like o-rings for this bike. Can anyone from south africa point me in the right direction. I really dont want to let go of this bike ...

Oh and btw. drove this thing abt 150'km's home. The dead battery (totally stuffed couldnt hold a charge) forced us to bump start it a few times. But when it did get running it ran like a bat out of hell. My friend rode this bike hard ( more experienced biker ) and took the speedo needle way beyond the 180km/h markerand right of its clock. He said he still didnt top it out completely he could have still went a bit faster and it performed really well ( he rides a 2009 cbr600 and it put a smile on his face). i dont undrstand how performance would be so good if carbs wher seriously a problem. ..

First thing to check is that the reg/rec is supplying the correct voltage as this could give bad starting. If the battry is good then 9 out of 10 times the o'rings are hard/bad and you will get fuel leaking through into the bore so the bike is a pig to start in the morning and will run bad at the bottom end as it is rich, a sure sign is the temp gauge staying low when the bike is hot.
I supply a full kit for the 76a or 73a or bandit and post anywhere in the world so if you want i have them.
They are as OE viton and you get all 20 o'rings.

Thank You for the response. I have cut up all my credit cards and closed the accounts so purchasing off shore will be a problem. First prize would be to get someone local to supply them if not I would have to arrange a funds transfer directly into your account if that is even possible. I would also need someone to assist me with fitting i work with computers have no idea what goes on with mechanics

No problem, if you get someone to do your spanners and need any o'rings you just need someone with a paypal account, its simlpe and paypal do everything for you.
