+1 for Plus gas
WD40 is not penetrating oil, or for that matter much use as oil at all. The name gives it away

Dispersant.
Fantastic for freeing parts that are meant to move, not much use on something like a rusted thread (although better than nothing).

If you have a welder or access to one get a nut that will slip over the broken off stud and weld it to the stud, squirt it with penetrating oil while it is stiff fairly hot, the heating and cooling will help free it up and they normaly screw out.

i have a mig welder, but i will wait till my old man gets home as he has done this before and may have a good stud extrator set, i.e. thhe type you drill in.
so will have a go then.
i will run about on the bandit till the nc is a happy chappy again!
