Get the front wheel of the floor, so it is free to spin. Then hold both forks and push and pull back and fore to check for any free play.

I checked the header bearings no play smooth and stable.

Might be worth taking the calipers off and making sure the brake pistons are all running smoothly. if you have one sticking that might cause an odd feeling as the pad is at an angle to the disc.
