I have standard calipers, EBC discs, Carbone lorrain pads, HEL lines and CBR6 master cylinder, fantastic feel and will easily lift the back wheel under hard braking...
dont put caliper adapters on all you are doing is adding unsprung weight.
Yeah mine could probably do with a rebuild, they bind slightly which I think is due to the sliding mechanism - would be nice to get rid of that but as you say, nothing wrong with the calipers when maintained.
Is the master cylinder upgrade worthwhile? Does it just reduce lever travel?

yes as long as you gat a bigger one the nc23 is a 12 . the nc30 is a 14 .and i had a 16 from a cbr 900 rry . nc30 lowers with nc30 calipers and hh pads . goodridge lines the back wheel was always of the ground under hard bracking
and the mot tester had never seen brakes as good before .

By their very nature sliding pin calipers will never be good under small/meduim brake pressure applications, to "unstick" the caliper along the pins takes a certain amount of effort, plus when the pads meet the disc this will push the caliper down onto the pin further, especially if your calipers are well-worn... When ridden as the bike was intended (I.e. no mincing around town etc,) as a fast road/track bike, they they aint all bad!
The NC30/Fireblade caliper conversion sounds like a good one, dont really know if I can be arsed/have avalaible finances to strip & rebuild my forks/brakes with the necessary lowers etc, could you still use the '23 front wheel?
The NC30 master cylinder swap could be a cheap fix tho?
P.s. If anyone thinks their Honda 400 front brake's are terrible then they are more than welcome to scare the crap out of themselves by trying my 400/4, where the front brake is ornamental, nothing more...

I have found a set of NSR250 4 pots i am fitting them to the NC23 racebike , its looking like a simple convertion so far but i havnt actually fitted them yet , just done a few measurments and stuff.
I thought the nsr250 4 pots were the same as nc30??

Just got good results from servicing the sliding calipers on my VFRVtec - my NC23 calipers nearly seized solid during Winter, have just bought some new boots for all four pins & will fit with liberal amounts of silicone grease, copper grease doesnt seem to make them stay free for long?? Either that or the boots are all slack & not doing their job, hence new ones... :)
Also got GREAT brakes the day after commuting thro a downpour, can only assume it washed the pads & disc clean? This would not happen if you only rode in the dry... Not keen on using brake cleaner to spray the pads & discs either, just so wrong after doing your damndest NOT to spray anything on them, lol
Its just immoral.
