Re: FZR 400rrsp Brakes
You said you have got ebc disks which ones have you got have you got the race pro-lites ? i tried the blue spots but i couldn't quite get on with them ive now got the standard rrsp brakes on which are similar to the blue spots and which combination do you prefer the brembo or the HH ? and which do you find the best and most constant and have you tried the ebc extreme pads they are supposed to be the best ebc do which they are far from i may aswell use blocks of wood to stop on.CMSMJ1 wrote:I bedded my last brakes in - new brembo pads, new ebc discs with a session on Oulton Park. did not fart about and just made sure that I gave it some respect until it gave the power I wanted.
After a session I had the most ninja brakes.
This on my YZF with blue spot calipers.
The fact you are cooking the rotors and pads makes me wonder if they might drag slightly and cause too much heat - how full is your reservoir? If it is right on the top limit you might find they pads don't retract far enough..
Also, for racing - I am using the EBC HH pads and they do the job OK - nothing special but consistent at least.

Re: FZR 400rrsp Brakes
I have new race pro-lites on the YZF. The Brembo pads are the Superbike pads and are superb.
I found standard EBC pads are fine and I use them on my NC30 with Stealth wavy rotors, Std Honda and also some Pro-lites - depends which wheel I have in!
All of the combinations works well.
Not tried EBC Extreme - they might be formulated for a rotor with higher iron content or a specific metal mix and this is why theya re not working for you. I bought some Ferodo race pads last year and took them back as they needed a specific stainless content to work - my rotors were very iron based and so I was worried they would not match.
As an aside - the standard o/e pads have always, for every bike, been great.

Re: FZR 400rrsp Brakes
I guess the only way to find out more what the pads are suited too it to ring ebc the superbike pads you run though sound tempting you say they are the superbike pads and i have been looking around on the net and i cant seem to find the superbike pads it just lists Carbon Ceramic Road Front, Sintered Road Front, Sintered Track and Road Front and Carbon Ceramic Road Race Front :S if brembo don't stock the superbike ones for the fzr ill put r6 ones it because they are the same pad, do you find the pads to be really grabby all the time or are they grabby at first and are progressive after that. Your help is greatly appreciated :DCMSMJ1 wrote:I have new race pro-lites on the YZF. The Brembo pads are the Superbike pads and are superb.

Re: FZR 400rrsp Brakes
it is the sintered race pads I have - type 07YA23SC (the SC) means it is the shizz..
This is in the blue spot calipers from an R1. They are not grabby, very firm and build heat and feel quickly. not tried them in the wet so no idea how they fare.
I am sure you can get 100mm spacing blue spots for the 3TJ...why not go for some of them :-)

3TJ forks have 85mm spacing for the calipers you need adapter plates to fit the blue spotsCMSMJ1 wrote:I am sure you can get 100mm spacing blue spots for the 3TJ...why not go for some of them :-)

The standard calipers are good enough though aren't they? My shortlived 3tj hybrid race bike had kickass brakes.

Re: FZR 400rrsp Brakes
I think your a bit hung up on your brakes - fit the HH pads and standard calipers (cleaned) and if your allowed under you race rules a radial master. That should give you good brakes and a base to start from

Re: FZR 400rrsp Brakes
Ive got the standard calipers on now ( they have been rebuilt) had them on since i fitted the new ebc pro-lites and a radial master cylinder is allowed but for the best it must be brembo but what ratio master cylinder do you recommend and where would be the best place to get one because every time i have looked they have been silly money. And i think i shall be ordering some new ebc HH pads do you recon again the best place to get them from would be brakes4u ?Evilchicken0 wrote:I think your a bit hung up on your brakes - fit the HH pads and standard calipers (cleaned) and if your allowed under you race rules a radial master.
