you are 100% right there, it only takes a dip to get a cloth/brush drenched but a good 10second spray to get a cloth wet.Neosophist wrote: You can get a gallon of parafin for the price of a large can of WD40 though, and it lasts 100x longer
for me parrafin is number one. it is available in any garden center as gardeners have paraffin heaters to heat greenhouses when it is cold. its also available in DIY stores here in the UK

The best stuff is GUNK which comes in an orange spray can from Halfords or suchlike places.Spray on,leave a few minutes and rinse off.It also helps if a]you do not overuse the chain lube, and b]you lubricate your chain after you have finished with your bike for the day and not just before you go for a ride as this means that the propellant will have a chance to evaporate and the lube will stick to the chain rather than being thrown off on to the wheel.

Parafin for me too; I also apply a coat of Mr Sheen's Bees Wax to finish it off!

Used to use WD40, then tried Paraffin and have never looked back!
Gets my vote everytime. Just don't use it to clean an oily section of your bike, then angle grind near the newly discarded rags...should a spark hit them you might end up with a fire...not that that ever happened of course.

Looks like a unanimous vote for Paraffin. Just got to find some now :)
I think the bike will go better once the rims are clean :)
