The rule in Aus is an ass.

I had some bonded on with Sikaflex 255 Extra and had no worries with them even after a couple of spills. To remove the covers to meet the GCRs I had to destroy one of them. I then put them on bolted to the case bolts as per the regs and after an off last year have totally bent the water pump hose outlet that goes to the oil filter and have just had to buy a new one.

Stupid rule made by stupid people

Yeah, agreed.

I worry more for the engine covers ripping out mounting bolts and other sh!t in a spill TBH. I've already had dramas mounting them, the engine cover bolts are there to hold the engine covers on, put it that way....

Mine are just there to comply with regs.

Would it be worth getting new covers cast from thicker patterns?

Must be cheaper to find old damaged ones and put a slab of ally on them. The heavy duty ones are mucho pricey......

I think our foundy charges about £10 per Kilo if you have the patterns.

I could get them cast up,if someones got some patterns.Five percent shrinkage I think.Not really a good time to start anything new,we are flat out at the moment and I have started a couple of projects on here allready.Fancy doing a bit with me,youre an engineer.

i have made up some 6061 aluminium frame slideers which will touch down before the sidecover protectors. i made up some aluminium covers lastnight but its only 1.6mm thick, the worst problem i found was finding a solid point to work from.ended up using the side cover bolts at their original position as i believe by putting longer bolts and extension tubes would only make it weaker by giving it more leverage. oh well they dont look pretty but hope they will pass.i left enough room between guard and cover so i can bolt on a thicker piece of ally if i need to. now i need to make the chain guard and its off to mac park for round 1. thanks again for the assistance as my ideas were running low

also spoke with sales rep on the epoxy idea and he said the temp would be a possible problem as epoxy turns back to a liquid at 70 degreees c and polyurethane at 90 degrees c but i will do a temp check next time i am at the track cheers

If you can get some sort of patterns or drawings I might me able to make them.I can bend or form plate/sheet.If its straight profile milled or turned I will have a go.Let me finish the no drill Nc30 bobbins,and when the seat gets here the Nc29-CBR RR subframe first though.Get some ideas together,I will do a group deal if its any good to you.
