Not sure whether the nc30 standard body work is similarly contoured to the nc35 but mine seems to have a very eccentric bracket to push the damper outwards, away from the clocks. Pretty simple really and you could probably make something similar, quite easily to fit other make dampers. I have seen other nc30's fitted with NHK's and they use a similar bracket and are mounted the same as mine. Think mine is a 120 stroke but will check.

Mate, sorry its taken so long to get back to confirm the stroke for you - mine is a 140mm stroke Ohlins one which clears the Translogic dash I have fitted as per the pic.

Any shorter and the steering lock would be comprimsed quite a bit more than it already is with the ducati forks I have fitted.

There's no real benefit on these bikes, especially on road ones if they're well set up!
I also had an NHK unit on an NC30 (same one as Micro Monkey's) and didn't get on with it at all; at very low speeds it made the bike wobble a bit too much, even on the softest setting!

I have never had a damper fitted to any of the 400's Ive had, but Ive had 2 tank slappers on the same bit of road ( bad surface mid corner) and Im sure if I had a steering damper it wouldnt of happened.

I only ever had one tank slapper and it was a BIG one! Not quite lock to lock, but the lil RVF was shifting well at that point!
It happened whilst overtaking a car just after a big roundabout as I went over a section of hatched markings, which as it turned out were more like speed humps! It was a short(ish) but violent experience, but one which didn't actually feel like it was completely out of control, if that makes any sense.
The front suspension struggled to keep up with the 'tricky' road surface - a reminder that I got to sort it out - the rear however, remained composed and kept the bike going straight and not snaking as I thought it might; this is credit to the WP rear shock and the fact I got it properly set up!

That was my own stupid mistake of course and one I'll be sure to avoid doing again; but at least I now know the RVF has no need for a steering damper, just as long as I get the front suspension sorted!

Is the stroke the amount of tube sticking out one end when its on full lock? iff so mines 100mm and perfect for a bike with ram air (just stops before the stancion hits the tube) but a lil bit of a pain on the road but you get used to it

i just bought one of the RO dampers and agree they are a nice bit of kit but need to be the other way around. planning on machining up a new stantion clamp to space it out so it can be reversed and not hit the standard clocks. im long in the leg and do touch the damper with my leg occasionally when moving about on the bike.

as anyone got a pic of the HRC setup? ive got a design in mind but would like to see a pic 1st
