Yeah. Looks like new rubbers. There is a bit of damage to two of them and as far as I know they are the original ones from the factory. Hey ho, more money!! eBay, here I come.

no drama,s like i said ,i'm off all wek and am looking an excuse to get out on the bike and a run to coleraine would finish my rear tyre off nicely so i think it's a win all around.

if you get the new rubbers it does make things easier and if your having trouble give me a ring and i'll try and help over the phone before taking a run up the road.

hair dryer on hot on each rubber - take your time, 5-10 minutes total for all 4, soften them a lot. A tiny bit of W40 on the lip of each rubber. If you do both those they should go on. I found putting the rear two slighly on first and then all my weight on the front two and the slid in after heating the rubbers. Position the clamps so you can most easily access the screws of course.

you just need to keep at, there is a serious knack to it. fronts in, flat bladed screwdriver in the rears, then all weight on the rears and use the screwdriver to prevent the rubbers from folding in on themselves. as the last buckeen says, make sure the clamps are loose and in the right position so you can tighten them. again there is a knack to that too.

My old carb rubbers were rock hard with them probably being the originals and were a nightmare to re-seat the carbs in. i just bought some new ones i think £20 at the time and now they pop on and off a dream. Worth the cash if you can spare it..

I've been following this thread with interest. I am rebuilding an NC24 and have refitted the carbs this evening onto new rubbers using silicone grease. They went on suprisingly easily but I'm concerned that they might not be correctly seated.

Each of the carb rubbers has a recess on the upper side which I assumed the carb would locate into but all are as shown in the picture - can anyone tell me if is this correct or should they push on further. I've use a hammer and a piece of wood, rubber mallet and I'm really afraid to hit it any harder!

That looks to be on pretty well, you can probably get them on a smidge more but that cutout is not meant to butt up flush against the carb.

Don't be afraid to stand on the carbs and jump up and down, that's what I do.

Thanks I'll have another go tomorrow and see if it will move further. It was the cutout that worried me.

They look totally fine!!

Unless there leaking air (unlikely) don't mess with em
