Andy you have a deal if I find any restrictors in place you are welcome to have them, I'll even send em recorded delivery

However .... I think I know why my bike is as slow as a Cagiva Mito ...

Today I checked me rear sprocket, guess how big it is ???

45 TEETH !! :o :o :o :o

Manual says standard is 38T rear sprocket, theres no wonder theres no top end :(

Thing is, acceleration isn't anything to shout about either and it's gonna be worse when I put it back to standard :(

So looks like I need new chain and sprockets standard size ones, but will go with Talon gold ones for a bit of bling, when I can afford it.

Do you guys think this is whats responsible for my very low top speed ? and what can I expect when I put it back to standard ?

Many thanks

if I was right with my thinking and the bike is still speedo restricted then that might explain it

Not checked the front yet mate, I'll have a look asap and let ya know

I am going to take me speedo apart tomorrow, I haven't had much luck in finding info and pics on what exactly I am doing once I get in there ?

Does anyone know if there are step by step instructions or images ? is it in the clock or odometer thing ? and is it best to remove this cam lobe disc thing or just bent a tab when I see one ?

As you can see not 100% sure what am doing

The speedo reads off the gearbox mate....so it will read high for the revs you are doing and so it should go off the scale at that gearing.

45 is massive..I struggled to fit a 44 back in the day.

And there was me thinking I was the only looney that had a 45 tooth rear and -1 front. You will need a new chain too as you have to have a longer chain fitted to allow it to fit.

No idea what the top speed was as it was a trackbike and had no speedo, sorry. I had to fit a 112 tooth chain though so as to give the sprocket clearance from the swingarm. I was trying for 7th and 8th gear though as I ran out or gears very quickly.

No, not necessarily. If you have a standard speedo drive, you will still see 135+ mph indicated regardless of gearing as the speedo is driven off the gearbox, it doesn't take the gearing changes into account! A bit hard to get your head around perhaps, but the short of it is that your speedo will still be showing a high speed while actual speed will be a lot less.

If the bike isn't 33hp restricted (which the previous owner would probably tell you if it was?!), it may be running lean. Does it rev cleanly to redline in all gears (e.g 3rd and 4th)? You should be able to go much faster than 107mph in 5th. Lean running can make it not want to rev out at high revs (revs, not speed!).

Investigation needed....
