Reg/Rec relocation?

It looks like the same as mine and genuine honda and one from a UK NC30 or a RC30.
Try moving it backwards slightly if poss the UK one fits a few inches back on raised lugs from the subframe (different subframe) but could be easily adapted

Do you know if yours has a part number on it? Mine doesn't which is why I didn't think it was a genuine honda one. Do you have a picture?

You can get your hands on a upgraded unit which I have fitted, your unit looks the same to mine and hopefully you should not suffer any more of a blown reg. As some have said mounting on a metalic surface with decent airflow is the best for disipation of the heat. Just rember if you move the unit a meter os so from its current position you MAY need to go one size up in cable diameter. The foam used on the inside of the panels is for noise deadening from the engine, most prefab plantrooms use the stuff for sound deadening purposes.

it doesnt have to be attatched to the frame just to something where it will get airflow...the NC29 for instance its attatched to the exhaust hanger and the one on my trackbike is carbon and that works fine.

i fitted a similar RR , i cut down some of the fins with an angle grinder so it wouldnt rub on the fairing

I filed the fins of my R6 unit to make it clear the frame (yours isn't from a yamaha, looks aftermarket).

There is scope on yours to file the bump on the subframe down, that will give you more clearance. Combined with filed down fins, it will fit nicely. Filing it is quite easy, the metal is usually pretty soft.

You can run into problems if it isn't mounted firmly to the subframe.
