Or may be it could just be that the main jets are clogged up and need cleaning as if your saying it coughs and splutters at 5k.

Thanks for all the reply's people! I took one of the plugs out cleaned it up and put it back in, then i took the air box off and mopped up the oil from under it and i also noticed that when i did my oil and filter change that i put a bit too much oil in, so drained some out. Even though i filled it up as per the haynes manual (2.4l)
I took it out for a spin after and it was fine and it's not been playing up since! :)

Hi, yet again my bike is playing up  It was this time last week the first problem occured. Basically it's doing the same as before, o.k up to 7000revs, then after that it will just run like a bag of sh*t and when i pull the clutch in while riding and rev it all the way up to 14.5 when it comes back down i get popping out of the exhaust, bit like mini backfire's, it's really starting to wind me up now what could it be?
As i said before all i did was clean up one of the spark plugs and mop the oil up from under the airbox and it was fine for a week but now a week on and it crap again? Please help guys!
Cheers

if it is electrical then it explains the intermittent problems you are having...........usually if its mechanical or a carb problem then it would more than likely happen all the time.
