Yeah, I'm working on a cheap home fix.
Dan, I did the same thing on Kens dyno a while back, and got a fair degree of difference between plugged and unplugged. Not any more horsepower, but a smoother curve. Saw it with my own two eyes...

It depends how the dyno operator operates the throttle. If they say there is no difference then they must be giving it full throttle through the entire RPM range. This is possible with CV's but not with flatslides. But when it comes to the actual rpm range of racing it would be of very little difference in terms of HP. cheers.
PS. To use a permanent setting of anything other than full throttle would be risking detonation.
