Re: My first project (NC23)

Update:
I've got the NC30 fork bottoms (just so I can have the callipers), racetech springs with ally spacers and pre-load adjusters off an NC29. As I have said I initially wanted to put some RVF pistons in because they give better compression. But they went up in price from £48 to £98 per piston (brand new). So, spending £400 when I could get a decent second hand engine for less than half seems silly. I just bought the new Tyga kit which looks sweet but was really pricey. Also just bought a Beowulf exhaust today. Heard good things and thought it would be good to support a British firm. Oh, bought a gold x-ring chain and hardened renthal sprockets. Then just gonna get little bits like braided hoses, new filters, new grips and crash bungs (that sort of stuff).
Anyway, as far as things go. The carb's been stripped and cleaned, changed the clutch (found out my pressure plate was broken!). Forks are half way through. I havn't even found a rear shock yet. Then it'll be a case of putting things back together.
I'm on a bit of a budget as I'm a student so I'll be spraying it myself. I have gold wheels so i was thinking black with a gold type racing stripe through the center over the tank and seat. Like on some of the Ducati Monsters. Wish I could get the frame and wheels powder coated and get a professional paint job. I did a fairly good job on my first bike though. One thing that does need doing is the downpipes. I'm running standard downpipe's which have gone abit rusty. It'll be no problem getting the rust off but I was thinking to keep a nice shiney polished surface. Thing is, it would just rust again. So does anyone know if there is such a thing as high temp lacquer or the like? Just to stop the rust.
Photo's soon.
