Though you were talking about 2 wires here, my mistake...

Just join the 3 wires at the cdi and run 1 of them to -ve.

I can join the two earths for the sidestand and neutral switch and use this to cut the ignition when changing up,quick shift style.
Breaking the earth to the cdi with a make/break switch on the gear lever.
It's old skool.
Who else has done this?

Missed these replies to my original post, thanks very much for the Race Harness diagram. I've been running a stock harness on the track bike up till now but as I'm about to change the body work I'll do the harness mod at the same time.

Question: am I right in thinking that I only need to run the orange/blue wire from the CDI to +ve if I'm running the street CDI and with the HRC CDI this is unnecessary? What about the Ignitech?

-ve means battery negative terminal, usually connected to the chassis. +ve means battery positive terminal or the supply voltage distributed to electrical components.
