Exhaust re-pack

Post by vr46 » Mon Nov 02, 2009 4:21 pm

Hi,

I have an Ethos race can for my NC29, however the packing on the inside looks like it has come loose.

The carbon sleeve is rivetted on, is it a big job to repack the exhaust?

I don't have the tools to do it and I've never done one before either. How much do you reckon a workshop would charge?

Cheers

It's not hard. I've never had an exhaust apart either but it's alot easier than it looks.

Un-bolt the end can from the bike.

Now look where the can bolts to the exhaust, just above there all around the can will be rivets. Drill these rivets out completly. Now just pull the end off your can (mine wouldn't budge so unfortunatly i had to lightly! take a hammer and chisel to it.

Then you see the insides of your can. Pull the packing out, chuck the new stuff in. Pop the lid on and put new rivets in.

Bobs your uncle.
