Putting NC21 engine in NC24
Hi all,
Just joined up and looking for some technical advice.
Does anyone know if the NC21 engine would be a straight swap into an NC24? I've tried to research it as best I can, and some say that the engines are pretty much identical.
Got an NC24 with blown engine and have the chance of a cheap NC21 motor, but dont want to buy it unless I'm sure it'll slot straight in with no mods.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

I'm not the NC21/24 guru...we;ll wait for Neosophist for that..but as much as I know it should be a straight swap.
Will be a ballache I guess..

Yeah it'll fit, the frames are identical.
You can even put the NC21 swingarm on the NC24 frame and vice-versa if you want.
Some things to note when transplanting the engine:
The NC21 motor uses a Hydraulic clutch, if you dont' have the clutch system the NC24 one will fit, just change the sprocket cover from the NC24 onto the NC21 engine, you'll also need to change the clutch pushrods over (it pulls out when you take the sprocket cover off) and dont mix up the sprocket cover bolts, the NC21 has a couple of longer bolts.
The exhaust system is different so change the collectorboxes over unless you want to try modding the low-level exhaust.
The NC21 has smaller jetted carbs and slightly different internals but you can use 115 jets (NC24) no problems, you might need to do a bit of fine tuning.
Thats all I can think of from the top of my head.

Yeah, cheers guys.
Picked the motor up today. The NC21 carbs are still attached. Think I should just leave them on then?
Planning to do the swap in the next couple of days so no doubt I'll be back on looking for help!

if the motor is out of a running bike fine if not your carbs may need a clean if petrol has been left standing in them and while the engine is out take advantage.
BTW check out neo's engine removal guide http://www.dunc.freeuk.com/bikes/nc24/engineindex.htm follow this and you can not go wrong.

Mine has more pictures :)
His guide was written first I believe and as been said is spot on.
Erm. I'd clean them but leave the NC21 carbs on first and see how you go. You'll have bigger jets in the NC24 carbs if you want to try some tuning after its all running.
