bandit engine and gsxr 400 engine
ok the bike in question is a gsxr 400 gk76a model wich I bought an engine on ebay for....the price was right, shipping too so I went for it, the thing was apparently the seller "lost" the engine with a little help from Interparcel.co.uk...so I'm now engineless (is there such a word?) and ebay is floaded with gsf 400 engines and just one gk76a at a ridiculous price and it's not even a complete engine (no carbs, loom, etc)
so I was thinking, fitting a bandit engine? is that stupid? will it fit? I saw that the airbox design have nothing to with the gk76a but aslong as the carbs are the same....
If someone could share a few pointers please...
Thanks in advance
Diogo

Hi M8,
The B4 motor is a no show as it mounts in a srad type beam frame as does the gk73a, they are hung from the cylinder head unlike the gk76a that uses a craddle type. Thats not to say you cannot fit one as there are some lugs on the motor but its a 50/50 that you will have to move frame mounts. Also the sump is different as the exhaust cuts diagonal across the B4 and not straight down the middle as the GSXR so youd prob need the sump cover and oil pan filter/oill pick up from the gk73 to go on the B4. I put a B4 motor in a gk71 and had to move 3 out of 5 mounting points but it can be done.
edit- why not put a RF600 motor in it, plenty of them aroud cheap. Or a gixer 6.

well this bike originally was supposed to be a gsxr 400 with 750 engine untill I saw the amount of work used to do it...so I forgot about it and I'm making a light-as-possible-weight fully focused trackday bike, but while I was dreaming about the idea of fitting the 750w engine it crossed my mind that thought, that a gsxr600w (US market and Japanese) or an RF600 engine would perhaps suit the frame better....
Do you have any inputs on this?
with the 750 engine you had to rebuild the frame and mounting points, do you know if I have to go through that with 600 engine?
...cause I really like that idea :)

Re: bandit engine and gsxr 400 engine
anyway if the rf600 head shares the same design with the 900 it won't fit in the frame, the carbs will hit the top frame rails...
