Re: VFR 400 NC 24 Conversion 17'' Wheel
I just saw that it is possible to upgrade the front wheel to 17'' by using a cbr 400 rr rim.
It's a stright swap....an you can take 110/120 tyre

I don't think the NC30 swingarm fits in the NC24 frame, i've got both in the garage and their different.
You can put the NC30 hub into the NC24 swingarm with some mods though...
Anyway.
17" fronts
CBR400 Aero wheel goes right in.
This will give you a 110/70/17 (good choice of rubber) 120 is of no more benefit.
Rears are a bit more of a pain.
Using the STD Rim.
You can put a 150/60r/18 on the back standard wheel, ie BT90 /92. (I have one for track days, works well)
Fit an NC30 hub / wheel. Same tyre as above.
Fit an RC36 wheel, you'll need to adjust exhaust and chain but its possible.

I'm 95% certain you don't =)
I have a non-standard exhaust system which a 150 doesn't hit, I can't see it hitting the standard one either.

Re: VFR 400 NC 24 Conversion 17'' Wheel
Another question again :
If i take the 17 front wheel (cbr 400) with an 110/70/17
The height will be 1,14cm more. (Does the standart front feder still fit?)
I thought i just pluggin the forks for 1,14cm .
Would that fix the problem and keep the standart ride level ?!?
Does anyone tryed a back wheel of an RC36 ?
It's a 5'' *17''!
If that fit's in i can alsmost ride ALL modern tyres.
The Problem is this wheel is also 1,13 cm lower.
Is it possible to pulggiin the forks for another cm without hitting anything ?

Re: VFR 400 NC 24 Conversion 17'' Wheel
are you planning on tracking the bike or some other need for radials? Or do you just want to put big tyres on an old bike as the BT45's and Pirelli's available in the stock sizes are more than adequate for the craziest of street riding (you can easily lean enough to grind off the footpegs and sidestands)
If the latter is the option i'd seriously just get a better rear shock, much better investment than bigger tyres..
but if you are doing a custom i'm interested.. I was modding my 24 into a track bike but it was too cost inefficient, i just enjoy it as a street bike now

Re: VFR 400 NC 24 Conversion 17'' Wheel
Hey,
i want to keep the NC24 as an trackbike which is allowed to go also on roads
Why i use the NC24 is simple! It is build bevor 1989.
Thats the main reason cause here in Germany it is allwoed to do much more things on these old bikes.
You can almost change everthing if it's save and not to loud.
To buy an NC30 is no option cause it is to young and here in germany still expensive.
I want to start with ''small'' but difficult conversions first.
Rear wheel is the biggest problem i think.
Later on i change the forks for an USD from a modern trackbike to get a fully adjustable fork
with really strong breaks.
To change the rear shock is not diffucult i just need money for that (also for teh forks)
But i wont do this as long as i do not know if i keep the swingarm or use somthing else.
I prefer to use she stock swingarm with an bigger rim to use radial tyres.
So i am realy glad for every help i can get !
I found only 5 people here in Germany who still have an NC24 and they are all stock !!!

Re: VFR 400 NC 24 Conversion 17'' Wheel
Yesterday i found out that the swingarm of the NC24 is to samll for an 5'' wheel.
i guess i have to try my first plan again!
I try to fit the NC30 Swingarm and put a 17'' replacement wheel from delkevic on it.
Does anyone have an NC30 swingarm for sell ?

aah.
What do you mean the Swingarm is too small for a 5" wheel? I've seen an RC36 wheel on an NC24 before
