NC24 exhaust recommendations + lights?

Post by Samj - NC24 »

Hey all - I'm new to the forum; I've just left my first post in the newbie section.

I've just purchased my first road legal bike; a 1987 Honda VFR 400 - NC24. I've been into modding cars for a fair few years now; and am keen to get just as stuck into my bike!

Firstly I want to change to a race can; can anyone recommend a decent system that isn't going to cost a fortune?!

Also I quite like the front end on the NC30; how hard would it be to swap over to an NC24? Also how difficult is it to update the rears; with say an LED unit?

Are there any other mods you would recomend at all?

Sorry to bombard you with so many questions!

Thanks in advance for your help; I look forward to your responses.

Welcome to the forum. The NC24 is not as common on this forum but there are still a few of us.
I think the nosecone swap is quite difficult as i dont think any of the holes line up, but im not 100% on that, im sure someone else can confirm/correct.

The End can is all down to personal preference, every1 has there own, and most of them sound good. Personally i have a scorpion carbon can which sounds pretty sweet. I was lucky to get it off ebay for not alot. Most end cans can be made to fit, link pipes are cheap to knock up.

My rear lights are pretty dim, an LED set would be pretty cool, be interested to see if anyone has any ideas about that.

I'm gonna have a closer look at how they are connected up this weekend if i get the time, kinda meant to be revisin for exams lol.

There are some after market LED lights in my local Yammy dealer; I'm going to buy these later in the month after I've been on holiday. They're only £30-ish I think; so no big loss if they don't fit! :D

I'm having real problems finding an exhaust though; they're all like £300+ for a decent one - I only paid that for the bike! There are alot of universal cans out there; I just can't find a seperate connecting pipe to hook one up!

Keep an eye on ebay.

You could chop the end can off the original exhaust and use the original pipe as the link pipe??

Ahh. mate don't lose the fairing. I rode mine from ards to bishopscourt and back with no gloves on a cold day and my hands stayed nice and warm (feet were bloody frezzin tho.) Keep looking on ebay, something might come up.
good luck.
