Brembo 40mm brackets.

Post by PARUS »

Hi,

Just bought 40mm brakets for Brembo, but when I tried to set them up forks mountings 7mm thicker than brackets.

The question is, what will be better
- create new brackets
- modify forks mounting or modify brackets/calipers moutings.

Really I need to remove 6-7mm, but where...

i would modify the fork bottoms, taking away the 7mm excess so it can take the 40mm brackets........

.

i would suggest modify the caliper and the adapters. don't modify the forks caliper mountings.

this is what we did with my bike.... looks is not that matters to me but the performance of the brake. if you will try to modify ONLY the adapters, it will probably break during hard braking (and weakens the adapter too). you have to sacrifice a little bit of the calipers for you to fit them properly, and SAFELY.

better go to your nearest machine shop to get this thing fixed.

Unfortunatelly, rick doesn't supply bracket for 40mm adaptor. Gavin also doesn't...

Experience speaking here I modified the fork bottoms - didn't go too well  difficult to machine and ensure correct alignment !

Go for brackets every time aesthetics aside its the way specials builders have been doing it for years and they never let you down, and thats taking into consideration its being done a lot higher HP machinery than we are using :!:
